Health Awareness and prevention Program

AWARENESS/PREVENTION/EDUCATION

People are deprived of the most basic services of health and education, transportation and communication. Because of the very poor health awareness and health facilities in this remote district, many people do not have access to proper health services. Our volunteer Dr. Julia said that ‘ A lack of health education is the root of almost all  health problems in Humla. People are often not ill because of the lack of medication. Most illnesses can be prevented by washing oneself.’

CONSTRUCTED RUBBISH PIT TO PREVENTION INFECTION

There is a high risk of spreading infection from the hospital because all the rubbish, used needles, used syringes, used gauzes with pus and blood, and sharp objects are thrown in the pit without safety boxes. The rubbish pit has been constructed higher with doors and covered with an iron net on top in order to prevent the spread of infections. Now the rubbish pit is inaccessible to children, eagles, vultures and cattle. Additionally infection trainings are being given to the health workers and helpers.
